“My Best Friend’s Breakfast” Set in Taichung, Recreating the Youthful School Atmosphere
The school romance drama, “My Best Friend’s Breakfast”, is the latest film directed by Golden Bell Awards screenwriter Ryan Tu. More than 20% of the scenes in the film were shot in Taichung and the shooting is currently in full swing. An important set in the film, the “Breakfast Shop”, will take the audience back to their carefree student days. Lin Shiau-Chi, Executive Director of the Taichung Film Development Foundation and the Information Bureau of the Taichung City Government recently visited the film set and presented Taichung specialty products to wish the crew a smooth shooting and a long run at the box office.
The Information Bureau said that the Taichung City Government continues to create a friendly environment for film and television, providing film subsidies and a one-stop service window for filming assistance, and Taichung has become one of the top choices for film and television crews looking for set locations in recent years. More than 20% of the scenes in “My Best Friend’s Breakfast” were shot in Taichung, including Liming New Village, Maple Garden, and the important scene of the drama - “Breakfast Shop”. In addition to becoming a pilgrimage spot for movie fans, fans can also take the opportunity to visit Taichung for breakfast.
The Information Bureau mentioned that the movie is directed by Golden Bell Award-winning screenwriter Ryan Tu, and co-produced by Sky Film Entertainment’s director Liang Hung-Chih, Skyline Entertainment’s director David Liu and producer Wang Huei-Chen. “Do You Love Me As I Love You”, produced by Liang Hung-Chih in 2020, made nearly NT$80 million at the box office, making it the top grossing Taiwanese film of the summer. It means that fans are now also looking forward to the release of the school romance “My Best Friend’s Breakfast” more than ever before.
Lin Shiau-Chi, Executive Director of the Taichung Film Development Foundation, said that Taichung has great weather and beautiful sceneries. In addition, the Taichung Film Development Foundation has set up a one-stop service window in recent years to help find venues and provide consultation services for filming locations, providing first-line support to film crews and making them feel welcomed when they come to Taichung for filming.
