Taiwanese Film Sen Sen Was Shot in GuangFu Village of Taichung with a Great Contrast Between the Serenity and the Issue of Life and Death

Taichung Film Development Foundation was established as the city government’s effort to build an environment conducive to film making. The foundation provides support for film crews, giving them a smooth experience in Taichung. As the result, many movies and TV dramas have chosen Taichung for filming. Among them is Sen Sen, a domestic movie that has received 2 million NTD in subsidy from the Information Bureau, with 60% of the movie filmed in Taichung. Sen Sen, a touching and emotional movie, was selected as the opening film for this year’s Golden Harvest Awards & Short Film Festival. It was also nominated for the Taiwan International Children’s Film Festival and enjoyed huge box office success in the Taiwan Film Festival in Sydney. The movie will be shown in 19 theaters across Taiwan on August 31.

Deputy Lu of the Information Bureau thanked the director for filming the movie in various locations in Taichung, including GuangFu Village, Jen-Ai Hospital is Dali, Yulan Village Leisure Farm, intersection of Boguan and Yude Road, etc. The Taichung City Government, in recent years, has been committed to transforming the city into an environment conducive to film/TV production. It has established the Taichung Film Development Foundation, with private film companies as its members, to become the single window to provide production support. In addition, construction for Chung Shan 73 Film & Art Center also started this year, which aims to be a welcoming and comfortable cultural space to attract more filmmakers to Taichung.

“A movie about saying goodbyes”, this is what Director Bon An said when talking about filming this movie. He said when he was in elementary school, a friend’s mother was sick. That is when he first learned about death. As we enter various stages of life, our perception towards life changes. Therefore he wanted to make a movie for himself and for every single person who has to face death in their lives.

Sen Sen is about a grandmother famous for her live streams and how she faces the last 100 days of her life with positivity and humor. In the process, she became good friends with a lonely little boy who lost a loved one recently. The story is full of laughter and tears.
