“Killer Not Stupid” Starts Its Filming Soon, 90% of Which Will Take Place in Taichung

Jack Neo, a highly acclaimed film director in Singapore, announced today that he would film his new work, “Killer Not Stupid,” in Taiwan and that 90% of the scenes would be shot in places of Taichung, including Blue Highway, Dadu Market, Gaomei Wetlands, etc., in the hope of allowing more people to see the beauty of Taichung. The Information Bureau of Taichung City Government suggests that in recent years, Taichung has been active in promoting the development of the TV and film industry and that the number of movies that Taichung has assisted in shooting continues to grow, with “The Tag-Along 2” and “The Great Buddha+” as good examples of high-quality results. The Information Bureau thanks Director Neo and welcomes him to bring his team to Taichung for filming, hoping that the good results from the past will bring them good luck.

Jack Neo, director of the renowned Singaporean movies “I Not Stupid” and “Money No Enough,” held a press conference today and announced the start of the filming of “Killer Not Stupid.” Jay Shih (male lead), Amber An (female lead), Shin Lung and the two actors from Singapore—Gadrick Chin and Apple Chan—attended the conference, while Wu Chao-Nan, Deputy Director-General of the Information Bureau of Taichung City Government, and Wu Pei-Lin, Deputy CEO of Taichung Film Development Foundation, were also invited to participate, hoping that the exchange between Singapore and Taiwan in terms of the film industry would be pleasant and fruitful and wishing the shooting work a great success.

Director Neo said that after making movies in Singapore, he had always wanted to enter different markets; he knew that people in Taiwan are quite supportive of filmmaking, so he very much looked forward to the filming work to come. Mr. Neo also indicated that many actors who are well-known in Taiwan have been invited to join the cast of the movie in the hope of sparking new inspiration and creativity. Asked about why choosing Taichung for shooting, he suggested that with the support of Mr. Huang Ping-Hsi, owner of Wonderful Cinemas in Taichung, his previous work “Money No Enough 2” had been shown for more than eight years to date, so he was very thankful of Taichung movie-goers. This is why, he said, when he came to Taiwan for filming for the first time, he must choose Taichung, hoping to get closer to the citizens by drawing on some local materials for the movie.

“Killer Not Stupid” is about two assassins, Hornet and Mark, who decide to flee from their organization after executing the last mission. They then arrive in Taichung, where they, by coincidence, meet a simple-minded former classmate, Sha Bao, and a Filipino drug lord's god-daughter, Talia. When these two run-away assassins encounter the prettiest wanted woman ever and a fool willing to go to the end of the world for the sake of love, an exciting adventure in Taiwan begins to take form. The shooting of the movie is scheduled to finish by the end of April.
