Calligraphy Greenway

  • Category: West Districts/Park and Greenway
  • Address: Yingcai Rd., West Dist., Taichung City, Taiwan (R.O.C.)

Formerly known as Jingguo Greenway, it extends from the National Museum of Natural Science to the Museum of Fine Arts and has been renovated by the Taichung City Government to create a new look. The design uses the concept of floating clouds and flowing water in calligraphy to integrate the landscape with literature and art, creating a unique urban space. The ancients described the semi-cursive script of calligraphy: “The ink and space clearly stand out, with the first character leading the paragraph; it can be both carefree and widespread, and close and intimate; it can be both dense so not even a breeze can escape or wide enough for a galloping horse”. The spatial structure of the semi-cursive calligraphic script is the starting point of the design concept. It was the aim to transform the Greenway into a distinct urban space based on the rhythm and rhyme of the script. Since the design is based on the concept of the “semi-cursive calligraphic script”, it is named the “Calligraphy Greenway”.
