VANJOAO HOTPOT Restaurant

VANJOAO HOTPOT Restaurant is located in Central District, Taichung, and is housed within the former Longxin Department Store. During the Japanese colonial period, the building once served as the Taichung Cinema, carrying historical memories and urban cultural significance.

The restaurant adopts a Hong Kong-style retro design, with a playful name inspired by a phonetic wordplay meaning “I’m very capable.” Its striking bright red signage makes it highly recognizable within the neighborhood.

Inside, the space features a strong visual design language, with layered lighting and rich interior decoration. The layout gradually elevates from the front to the rear, creating a sense of a hidden, winding spatial flow. This design evokes a strong nostalgic atmosphere while also delivering a sense of surprise, resulting in a cinematic and narrative-driven spatial experience.
