During the Japanese colonial period, a police system was established. In the 32nd year of the Meiji era (1899), the "Wuqi Police Officer Station" was set up, initially renting a private residence. In November of the same year, a new office building was constructed, located next to the bustling Chaoyuan Temple and the marketplace.
The wooden dormitory structure is generally well-preserved and is situated behind the police station. It also features an air-raid shelter, reflecting the complete setup of the police system from the Japanese colonial period to the post-war Nationalist government era. Besides its historical significance in law enforcement, the exterior of the police station building is exquisitely brick-faced, with a well-maintained surrounding environment, and the architectural complex is both intact and beautiful.
Currently, the site is managed by Humanities International Co., Ltd., which envisions "Reviving an old street with an old building." The company aims to transform this historical site into an important cultural asset promotion hub for the Wuqi District and the coastal region, driving cultural and tourism development in the coastal area.
