MIYAHARA

  • Category: Central Districts/Restaurant and Hotel
  • Address: 2F, No. 20, Zhongshan Road, Central District, Taichung City 400, Taiwan

In Taichung's old city area, by the banks of Green River, once known as the "Little Kyoto," stands a nearly century-old red brick building. As you ascend the steps, rows of wooden trusses intertwine with modern steel structures, while bronze chandeliers hang from above, creating a blend of the old and the new. Zuoyue Tower is the most hidden and beautiful restaurant in the city, without a doubt.

From a temporal perspective, this restaurant exudes a strong sense of history. The name "Zuoyue Tower" dates back to the Japanese era when it was a famous establishment by Yingqiao Street (located at what is now the parking lot next to Watsons extending to Miyahara on Taiwan Boulevard). Several significant cultural and democratic movements in Taiwan's history took their oaths here. The remnants of the walls outside the windows still bear the imprints of Zuoyue Tower's golden years. In this enigmatic combination, it satisfies more than just travel fantasies.
