Shansu Forest

  • Category: Heping Districts/Nature and Tourism
  • Address: Daguan Village, Heping District, Taichung , Taiwan City

The "Taoshan Tribe," also known as "Taohua Township" and "Xueshankeng Tribe," in Taichung City's Heping District, earned its reputation for abundant peach blossoms. Several decades ago, a farm created giant sculptures based on stories from the Atayal tribe, which were later preserved as landmarks after the farm closed down.

The "Xueshankeng Circular Trail" winds through pristine natural forests, following traditional hunting paths of the Atayal people in the Xueshankeng area. It connects existing attractions like the "Giant's Hand" and distinctive beech trees known as the "Four Brothers Beech Trees," creating a hiking trail rich in natural ecology and indigenous history and culture. This area also boasts Taiwan's largest mountai fern forest.

This location has been used as a filming site for the movie "Seediq Bale."
