臺灣府儒考棚(國定古蹟)，為清末臺灣升格建省後，於中部興建「臺灣省城」與舉行科舉考試之試院考棚，落成於清光緒18年（1892）；光緒20年（1894）因省會移往臺北，改隸屬於臺灣府。日治後（1895）改作為中部地方行政單位之辦公廳舍，依其改制變遷次序為臺灣民政支部、臺中縣、臺中廳以及臺中州。

本場景融合清領時期建築及台灣現代建築，促成一種古今合的獨特風格，以自然採光，作為建築內的光源，柔光映入建築內部的史蹟，使古物與現代巧妙融合，門前腹地廣大，適合拍照及劇組拍攝。

Introduction

Taiwan Prefecture Confucian Examination Hall was originally used for provincial imperial exam for all the candidates in Taiwan. It was used as temporary government office for police officers in the early period of Japanese occupation. In the 7th year of Taishō era (1918), it was demolished and relocated due to the construction expansion of buildings in Taichung Prefectural Hall. It was moved to the current address as Police Officer’s Club and was reserved. Its history of relocation demonstrated the urban change from the government office settlement in Qing dynasty to prefectural hall in Japanese occupation period. It is with great reservation and architectural research values.
