象徵臺中之仿巴洛克百年車站(國定古蹟)
見證臺中發展的臺中火車站興建於西元1917年，為日治時期仿巴洛克式建築，外觀山牆式設計搭配白色洗石子環帶和紅磚相襯，屋頂有華麗鐘塔，歲月洗禮仍屹立不搖，不只是重要的交通樞紐，亦是象徵時代的國定古蹟。
鐵路高架化讓台中進入新時代，火車站也保留新站、舊站、一代站「三代同堂」車站並存景象，站前廣場設置廣場舖面、植栽綠化與周邊區域的道路及人行道、無障礙通路設置等，建構具現代化都市休閒活動空間，再搭配路型調整與景觀再造，讓現代化廣場及綠意休閒意象，與百年老車站景觀共融，建構歷史風貌再生與活化。

A century-old station of Taichung in the Baroque-style
The (Old) Taichung Train Station, which witnessed the development of Taichung, was built as an imitation Baroque style building in 1917 during the Japanese rule. The exterior shows a gable design with a white-washed pebble ring and red bricks, and there is also a magnificent bell tower on the roof. The building still stands firm after experiencing the different eras. It was not only an important transportation hub, but also a national monument symbolizing the times.
The elevated railroad has brought Taichung into a new era, and the train station also retains the coexistence of “three generations of the station” - the new station, the old station, and the current station. The station plaza is equipped with pavements, greenery, paths and sidewalks in the surrounding areas, and accessible pathways, in order to create a modernized urban leisure activity space. With the adjustment of road design and landscape reconstruction, the modernized plaza and green leisure imagery is well integrated with the landscape of the century-old station, to re-construct and revitalize the facades of the former times.
